A walk in the park

After working all week and being totally exhausted, myself and my parents decided we didn't want to do something crazy on our day off, but we had to do something so we wouldn't later feel like we had wasted our day.
We headed to a nearby town- Harrogate- as we had heard you could walk through the Valley Gardens to RHS Harlow Carr Gardens. Despite visiting the town frequently for shopping and eating out, I had never actually walked through the Valley Gardens and they took me by surprise. The Gardens were beautiful, so well maintained and as the weather was fairly sunny, hundreds of people were out and about which made for such a nice atmosphere.

Although the walk itself was fairly easy, by the time we head reached Harlow Carr Gardens we were ready for something to eat, and whats better than a Betty's stop? As a 'fancy' Yorkshire tearooms, Betty's is one of my favourite places to eat and I particularly love the Fresh Fruit Tarts (of course I had one on this visit too!). However the tearooms are extremely popular, with only six in the country and so we did have to queue for roughly half an hour, but as we expected this wait it didn't really matter.
The walk to Harlow Carr Gardens was signposted as 1.5 miles, and it was suggested that it would take us at least an hour. However, as very quick walkers we got there much faster than expected and the weather was so nice it was necessary for a refreshing drink rather than their Luxury Hot Chocolate -mmm- and of course I chose Pimms!

To eat I opted for poached eggs and bacon on a toasted English muffin- not actually on the menu but they happily accommodated my request. My dad had their special summer salad - I don't remember the name, sorry!- and my Mum had the Swiss Alpine Macaroni, both were delicious.

As a sweet-toothed girl it was obvious I was going to order pudding, and I had my favourite Raspberry Tart, yum. My Mum had the Eton Mess which was also tasted great.

^^ This picture was taken whilst I was telling my dad off for making me laugh, but I actually love how it turned out haha!

The walk was essentially as easy as a 'walk in the park', we didn't go far, but did something nice in the time we had, and after all, there's nothing much better than good food and family time!

The underlying meaning behind this post?- don't waste the time you have, make something of your day, whether it be big or small or simply a walk in the park :)...
